Welcome to the Hexter Gifted and Talented program
The Dallas ISD Elementary Gifted and Talented Education Program is an academic pull-out program which meets the needs of students who have demonstrated complex thinking skills and a need for academic challenge and rigor.
Identified students spend a minimum of two (2) hours per week in the G/T classroom. Accelerated instruction in the gifted program uses depth and complexity in the curriculum which is focused on developing student proficiency in critical thinking, problem solving, creative thinking, and research. The program curriculum, Texas Performance Standards Project (TPSP), also teaches skills that develop innovative products reflecting on individuality and creativity, and are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment.
www.texaspsp.org VEX Robotics (Grades 4 & 5)VEX IQ is an exciting robotics platform, which transforms STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning for young students. Students will create robots using the VEX system and learn to program the robot using the RobotC programming platform. Fifth grade teams will compete in a VEX IQ competition on the weekend in late fall or early spring.
